Elaine has grown up on MOSA. Her parents, Muriel and Emile, are both doctors there. When we meet her, she is a navigator on board the ARSI recovery vehicle, Minotaur. Her fingers are tattooed on the back with “nav tattoos” readable by the computer as her fingers dance over her control panel.

In Book Two, she is shot by Xanthus Rex on Mauritius and Max rescues her by donating some of his prosthetic skin, thus imbuing her with the same powers, including contact telepathy and the ability to teleport.
